A message from our Director
April was Autism Awareness and Acceptance Month - a time that holds a special place in our hearts. We want to express our gratitude to all the incredible organizations that recognized this important month and sponsored events to raise awareness and acceptance. This month is always the busiest for us at UF CARD, but it is also the most exhilarating as we have the chance to connect with constituents across our catchment area.
We are overwhelmed with appreciation for the immense generosity shown by the students of Impact Autism and the members of Gator Bowman. Impact Autism organized the Stomp the Swamp fitness event in March, where we witnessed incredible dance and song performances, and had the pleasure of taking pictures with Albert and Alberta. Participants were then invited to walk or run the stadium steps or take laps around the stadium loop - it was a wonderful event.
And in April, the Gator Bowman hosted the first ever Archers for Autism Charity Shoot, drawing spectators from all over to witness the impressive shots, enjoy a delicious lunch, and bid on silent auction items. The dedication and passion shown by these organizations is truly amazing. Thanks to their donations, and the support from our community as a whole, we can expand our efforts to provide more families with safety boxes, visual supports, and financial assistance to attend the statewide CARD Conference. Your unwavering dedication inspires us to carry out our mission.
We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to our community. Your involvement truly makes a difference, and we are grateful for every effort made to support UF CARD and our constituents. Be sure to follow us on social media and subscribe to our newsletter to stay current on upcoming events, hear success stories, and find out how you can get involved.
Thank you! Ann-Marie Orlando, PhD, CCC-SLP/A Director, Center for Autism and Related Disabilities
