Description
The purpose of the workshop is to provide information, resources, and support to parents and families of students with disabilities. Participants will learn about the purpose of Exceptional Student Education (ESE), how a child becomes eligible for ESE Services, the types of services that are provided through an Individual Educational Plan (IEP), and next steps for postsecondary education.
Training Objectives
- Know the purpose of Exceptional Student Education (ESE) and how it supports the unique needs and strengths of students with exceptionalities
- Identify and Understand how a child becomes eligible for ESE services and what types of supports are provided through an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP)
- Discuss next steps for your student on their road to success
- Build a roadmap of your journey through Exceptional Student Education

About the Presenter
Sandi Bailey
Parent and Family Services Specialist, FDLRS Gulfcoast
Sandi Bailey has been teaching students with disabilities for 35 years and is currently the FDLRS Gulfcoast Parent and Family Services Specialist. Sandi received her teaching degree from Slippery Rock University and her areas of focus include individuals with learning, emotional and behavioral disabilities as well as early childhood. While Sandi misses working with learners directly, she is finding assisting families as they journey through the education system with their child to be very rewarding. She enjoys helping families understand the evaluation process as well as offer support as their learner continues to grow during their school career including post-secondary options.
