Training Description
Disability Rights Florida “Who We Are” – This educational presentation will provide an overview of the programs and services offered by Disability Rights Florida. Attendees will gain valuable knowledge on the areas of DRF’s advocacy work and how to access services.

About the Presenters
Dawn Moore and Melissa Cyril
Training and Outreach Coordinators
Disability Rights Florida
Dawn Moore has worked at Disability Rights Florida (formerly known as the Advocacy Center for Persons with Disabilities, Inc.) for 30 years and is currently the Special Events and Outreach Coordinator with the Communications and Outreach Team. Prior to her current role Ms. Moore worked as the Senior Intake Outreach Coordinator with the Frontline Information and Referral Services Team (FIRST). In her current role as Special Events and Outreach Coordinator, Dawn plans, organizes and participates in meetings and in organizational events across Florida, collaborates on cross-team projects and trainings, and works to enhance the visibility of the organization and further the rights of individuals with disability by connecting Disability Rights Florida with individuals with disabilities in Florida’s rural and underserved areas. Ms. Moore has two degrees in Business Administration and one in Accounting from Ft. Lauderdale College and is a Certified Information and Referral Specialist.
Melissa Cyril is Disability Rights Florida’s Rights Training and Outreach Coordinator. Melissa received her B.S. in Political Science at Florida State University in 2010 and has worked at Disability Rights Florida for the past 19 years. Prior to her current role, Melissa worked both as a Senior Advocacy specialist and Senior Advocate-Investigator which involved investigating allegations of abuse, neglect and rights violations in institutional settings. In her current role as Rights Training and Outreach Coordinator, Melissa develops and conducts trainings and outreach on disability issues for staff, clients, families, facility staff, community groups, public policy makers, state agency staff and other stakeholders in the disability community. Melissa is also tasked with identifying populations who are underserved and working with partners throughout the state to ensure all individuals with disabilities are included.
