The University of Florida has recently received approval to begin enrolling in a large national project studying Aging in Autism. The goal of the study is to examine how aging-related differences may contribute to different outcomes and to improve the long-term health of autistic adults.
We will compare how autistic adults (including those who had autism at any time during development) and adults who had typical development (TDC) change over time.
Adults between the ages of 20 years to 65 years+ will be enrolled and have a comprehensive autism assessment.
Participation in this study includes:
- Cognitive and motor assessments, including Autism testing
- Questionnaires
- MRI brain scan
- Fasting blood draw
Participants who are willing and able will be contacted every 9 months for some questionnaires and then invited to return in about 3 years for a 2nd comprehensive assessment to begin to understand change over time. Compensation will be provided.
- Participants must have ASD without intellectual disability or have been typically developing.
- Participants must be 20 years old or older.
- Participants will have a study partner, usually a family member, available for interviews about your development from childhood through today.
The study will enroll ASD and TDC individuals at the University of Florida, University of Wisconsin-Madison, and the University of Utah.
Please feel free to contact the study team, and be on the lookout for more information on how to get involved!
