Family Engagement Project – Facilitator Training

UF CARD aims to increase family involvement and access to support and services through locally led groups across the communities we serve.  While our parent support group is available to all UF CARD constituents and their families, locally led groups also can help families connect with others in their communities, and learn about local resources.  We are seeking caregivers and community partners to join us to learn how to facilitate dynamic and engaged groups and promote positive interactions and collaboration among participants.

  • Are you a parent of or do you work with individuals with ASD? 
  • Are you familiar with autism resources in your area? 
  • Are you interested in learning how to facilitate group meetings? 
  • Do you get enjoyment and satisfaction from helping others? 

Requirements for participation:

  • Parent/Caregiver, community partner or both, 
  • Committed to attending all 6 training sessions, and 
  • Committed to facilitating 5 meetings within 6 months following the initial training. 

After the training participants will be expected:

  • to facilitate or co-facilitate 5 meetings by 10/16/2024
  • to communicate with your mentor after each meeting 
  • to participate in 3 facilitator sessions 

Participants will receive: 

  • Facilitator’s Handbook  
  • Certificate of Completion  
  • CARD tote bag  
  • Facilitators supplies

Facilitator meeting 1 (2 hours) June 12th 10am – 12pm Zoom
Facilitator meeting 2 (2 hours) August 14th 10am – 12pm Zoom
Facilitator meeting 3 (2.5 hours) October 16th 10am – 12:30pm Lunch will be provided In-person CARD office Gainesville, FL
Facilitate/co-facilitate 5 meetings within 6 months May 1 – October 16, 2024 Your choice of location either in-person or via Zoom
