Employment Boot Camp

UF CARD is offering a one-week Employment Boot Camp for adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and related disabilities (RD). The schedule of activities for the Boot Camp is designed to facilitate the development of professional and personal goals toward employment. The activities will include preparing for employment, completing applications and putting together resumes, learning and practicing interview skills, and learning about workplace social skills. In addition to topic focus for each day, we will have Lisa Math with the Family Network on Disabilities present on the following:

  • Nuts & Bolts of Self-Determination Skill Building Day – 1
  • Nuts & Bolts to Self-Advocacy – Day 2
  • Supporting Youth: Navigating to Adult Healthcare – Day 3
  • Strategies That Work: Managing Your Mental Health & Wellness – Day 4

By the end of the week, participants will determine the next steps for achieving their employment goals. This program is free of charge to UF CARD constituents 18 & older thanks to generous donations from IMPACT Autism at UF. Applicants will be notified of their acceptance to the program following completion of the application. Participation is limited to 12. 

Eligible participants must:

  • ​be 18 or older
  • have exited high school
  • be a UF CARD CARD constituent
  • be interested in getting a job or volunteering
  • be able to attend all 5 days of the camp
