Everyday Sensory: Understanding, Managing and Using the Sensory System
February 9, 2010 CARD Offices, 1405 NW 13th Street, Gainesville or online via Adobe Connect
Time: 6:30 - 8:00 PM
Presenter:
Consuelo Kreider, MHS, OTR/L
While everyone faces situations that may tax our sensory-motor and sensory-perceptual abilities, individuals on the autism spectrum face challenges exacerbated by unique patterns of sensory processing. Such differences in sensory processing places greater onus on parents, caregivers, interventionists and teachers to understand, manage, and effectively use the sensory system to optimize the behaviors, relationships, and the participation that fosters both learning and development. This presentation provides a basic overview of sensory processing, arousal states, and the fundamentals of understanding the continuum of sensory experiences as it affects behavior and learning.
This training is FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.
Seating is limited. Please REGISTER by emailing your name and phone number to card-info@ufl.edu or calling the CARD UF/Gainesville offices at (352) 273-0581 or 1 (800) 9-AUTISM to reserve a seat!
